Long, long ago, before there were even plants, let alone animals, on Earth, this tiny grain of suna (sand) drifted along the shoreline.

Now, humans rush around in shoes between skyscrapers, and everything is processed by computers.

Yet that single grain of suna still exists today, remaining a vital and irreplaceable part of this universe we call home.

  • Born in 1954, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan

  • Graduated from Bunka Fashion College in 1975

  • Relocated her studio and residence from Shonan to Bali in 1999
