Lecture by Shigeru Ban at Columbia University

On Thursday 8 March the internationally recognized architect Shigeru Ban gave the 2011-2012 Soshitsu Sen Distinguished Lecture on Japanese Culture, titled “Architecture and Humanitarianism,” at Columbia University. He told about his efforts to provide cost efficient, environmentally friendly, and comfortable housing to earthquake victims around the world, in a lecture on architecture and humanitarianism.

Shigeru Ban is an accomplished Japanese and international architect, most famous for his innovative work with paper, particularly recycled cardboard paper tubes used to quickly and efficiently house disaster victims.
